Kickoff Meeting @BASF, Ludwigshafen, Germany
Date
January 2025
Chem-X has kicked off!
The Chem-X project has officially begun — and to mark the occasion, the consortium came together for its first in-person meeting at the BASF headquarters in Ludwigshafen.
The meeting was hosted by the project coordinator BASF and brought together representatives from all partner organizations, as well as delegates from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH, which supports the project as part of the funding initiative.
Following a warm welcome and a comprehensive introduction to the project’s objectives, participants engaged in two focused breakout sessions. These sessions allowed the consortium to dive deeper into key thematic areas, align on expectations, and refine the concrete steps needed to reach the project’s ambitious goals.
Beyond the technical discussions, the event provided a valuable opportunity for partners to meet face to face for the first time. This personal exchange laid a strong foundation for trust and collaboration across organizational boundaries — a crucial element for the success of a complex, multi-stakeholder initiative like Chem-X.
With the kickoff complete, the project now moves into its first phase of requirements, and initial data architecture work.
We look forward to the journey ahead and to building a secure, interoperable data ecosystem for the chemical industry.
